Step 1: Clean, Sand and Prime 

  • Sand and clean the surface of debris

  • Spray or roll primer to solidify the substrate (optional)

  • Allow surface to dry completely

Step 2:  Cover and Mask

  • Use drop cloths, masking tape and other tools to protect area

  • Tape on decorative pattern as desired

Step 3: Mix and Load Guns

  • Add up to 5% water and mix

  • Scoop into standard drywall mud gun (retails for $20)

  • Use compressor at ~100 psi (0.7 MPa)

Step 4: Spray

  • For novices, spray in two coats for more even results

  • Spray to 2-3mm thick (just under 1/8")

  • Expect to use 6-8 lbs per 10 square feet (3-4 kg/meter squared)

  • Use compressor at ~100 psi (0.7 MPa)

Step 4: Unmask and Allow Drying

  • Unmask Immediately

  • Allow to dry above 50° F (10° C)

  • Will dry to the touch within 2-3 hours

  • Will dry hard within 24 hours

  • Will dry to the hardness of stone within 1 week
